Our Dancecademy 2024 participants can now confirm this after experiencing the transformative essence of dance firsthand. From August 27 to September 6, 2024, in the charming town of Mühlhausen, Germany, 30 young people from six different countries came together to connect, create, and grow through the power of movement. Organized by Next Level e.V. and supported by Erasmus+ and other partners, this youth exchange broke down barriers, built friendships, and celebrated the universal language of dance.
The Heart of Dancecademy: A Place to Move and Grow
Dancecademy wasn’t just about perfecting breakdance moves or exploring intuitive dance techniques. It was about creating a welcoming space where everyone – whether a beginner or an experienced dancer – could express themselves freely and learn from one another.
Fabio, one of the participants from Italy, shared: “What made the experience special, in addition to a wonderful company and impeccable organization, was getting involved by learning all together fundamentals of break dance and many other interesting practices, with fantastic trainers who encouraged and supported us throughout the process. We spent unforgettable days dedicated to dancing and having fun, in a judgement-free space where everyone could feel safe to express themselves freely.”
More Than Just Dance: Culture, Fun, and Connection
While dance took center stage, Dancecademy 2024 offered so much more. Each evening, participants shared their cultures through traditional dances, foods, and unique customs. These moments of cultural exchange were both enriching and enjoyable, helping to transform a group of strangers into a close-knit community.
The program also included opportunities to relax and explore. After intense dance sessions, participants cooled off at the Schwanenteich outdoor pool in Mühlhausen, explored the creative Just Letters Festival in Weimar, and discovered the beauty of Thuringia. These shared experiences created lasting memories and strengthened the group’s bond.
10 Days to Remember
Over ten unforgettable days, Dancecademy 2024 became a transformative experience. As Leoni, one of the facilitators, reflected, “I am always surprised at how unifying Erasmus+ projects can be. Although I wasn’t able to dance a lot due to my knee injury, the week touched me deeply. I am incredibly grateful to be able to work with people who inspire me and with whom everything feels so easy.”
Saying goodbye at the end of the program was bittersweet, but the connections made and lessons learned will stay with everyone involved for years to come.
What’s Next?
As the first edition of Dancecademy wrapped up, we’re already looking ahead to the future. To everyone who joined us – participants, trainers, and organizers – thank you for making this journey so special. Here’s to new moves, new friendships, and even greater adventures ahead!
Stay tuned for updates, and until next time, keep dancing! ✨
