Dramacademy Kids Camp 2023

A creative adventure for young talents

In August 2023, the Dramacademy Kids Camp took place, a unique project that gave young people up to the age of 16 the opportunity to live out their creative abilities and discover the world of theater. The camp was made possible by the support of “Culture Makes You Strong” and offered participants a two-week journey into the world of acting, community and adventure.

A creative home for young talents

The Dramacademy was aimed at children and young people of all ages who could discover their interests and talents together in an inclusive and creative environment. To support and integrate the younger participants, they were paired with a “buddy” – an older participant who accompanied them during the camp and supported them with questions. This structure not only ensured mutual support, but also promoted cohesion between the different age groups and cultures.

Particular attention was paid to the inclusion of children and young people from Ukraine. Through joint creative activities and collaboration within the framework of the theater project, barriers were broken down and a strong community was formed. Here it became clear how art and culture can build bridges – across language barriers and through shared experiences of creative processes.

Theater as a mirror of the community

The heart of the Dramacademy was the work in the field of acting and theater. The participants developed plays together, which they thought up, rehearsed and finally performed themselves. They received support from an experienced actress who gave the young people valuable insights into the world of theater and helped them put their ideas into practice. These creative workshops not only offered the participants the opportunity to improve their acting skills, but also to translate their own ideas and thoughts into artistic forms of expression.

In addition to acting, cooperative games promoted community and team spirit in the group. The children and young people learned to look out for each other, support each other and find solutions together. It was impressive to see how the young talents grew together over the two weeks and formed a strong, creative team.

Adventure in the Thuringian Forest: Climbing in the Hohenfelden Climbing Park

In addition to the intensive theater workshops and creative projects, there was also plenty of adventure. A highlight of the camp was the trip to the Thuringian Forest, where the participants tested their limits in the Hohenfelden Climbing Park and shared an exciting outdoor experience. Here they were able to demonstrate their teamwork and courage and experienced how important it is to trust each other and overcome challenges together. The climbing park was not only an exciting change, but also a valuable experience in terms of personal development and collaboration.

Two weeks that enrich life

The Dramacademy Kids Camp was more than just a creative workshop – it was a journey in which the children and young people discovered their own potential, made friends and had an unforgettable time together. Participation in this camp not only strengthened their creativity, but also promoted their social and emotional skills. Through the intensive time together and the shared experiences, the participants grew not only as artists, but also as people.

The added value of the Dramacademy:

  • Promoting creativity and self-confidence
  • Inclusion of children and young people from different cultures
  • Strengthening team spirit and social skills
  • Learning acting techniques and developing your own plays
  • Varied activities, such as visiting the climbing park, to promote physical and emotional strength

Support from “Culture makes you strong”

The project was generously funded by “Culture makes you strong”, a program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research dedicated to the cultural education of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The funding made it possible to implement the project in this form and to offer children and young people from different social and cultural contexts an opportunity to discover and develop their creativity.

Through the Dramacademy Kids Camp, we offered young people a platform on which they could develop themselves, test their limits and find their own voice. The two weeks were not only a creative adventure, but also a step towards a more confident and more connected future.
